Exsanguination

Exsanguination,

Bloodletting of our nation

With every debate.

No discussion of issues

Just name calling like children.

Where is the substance?

Criticism solves nothing

Without solutions.

Since time immemorial

We have held this as the truth.

Today words of fools

Supplant our common senses.

Fear now rules our day,

Seen in every passing face;

Breaking our union apart.

What is it they want,

Their finger on the button

Ultimate power?

They are the ones we should fear

If in silence we’d listen.

  1. I wonder what the definition of being Presidential means to them? Politicians are quick to point a finger to whom they think doesn’t have the temperament to be President, yet they all stand there and call each other names. Tiresome and predictable. Your poem says it all!
