Labor Day

Lives of the common man

Abandoned to the whims of the few

Beer and barbeques dull the pain

Or do they

Reality is stranger than fiction

Does the American dream still exist

A white picket fence and security

You may believe so, but I’m not sure you are right

  1. I believe the Dream lives on in those that believe in it. It’s outward manifestation may not fit with the perception of an others. Especially if it were psychological rather than physical.

  2. Poignant and sadly true. As an immigrant it took me a while to acclimate with all these so called “Holidays”. I suppose they are “Holy” if we worshiped money – and we do. Labor day , Thanksgiving day and Christmas have all become yet another reason to make sacrifices for the Gods. As for the dreams, I suppose it did come true (for the Gods).

  3. Make that “Beer, Barbecue and barbituates” and you will have something going for you there. This may be the very reason there is a movement afoot to get marijuana legalized in many jurisdictions …. looking for new ways to dull the pain.
